Pulp is matter in its most essential state. Something raw, malleable and full of possibility, suspended between fragility and resistance, transformation and reinvention. In Pauwels’ hands, cardboard becomes a material of endless possibilities. On the occasion of his first solo exhibition at Plato, Sébastien Pauwels brings together the founding mediums of his practice: drawing, painting and sculpture. Through an instinctive and playful process, the ordinary takes on unexpected shapes, as his work moves freely between disciplines, finding beauty in imperfection, freedom in experimentation and poetry in the simplest of materials.
