Spanning five decades (1970–2020), the exhibition traces the evolution of Nutrition and Food Sciences in our country through 76 works—a number that ties in with the year the program was established—including pioneering books, scientific articles, and patents, selected and produced by current and former faculty members and directors of FCNAUP.
Among the works, the following stand out: publications by founding physicians of FCNAUP (such as Emílio Peres, Norberto Teixeira Santos, and Gonçalves Ferreira); updates to the Portuguese Food Wheel (2003 and 2016); manuals to assist with food quantification; various studies on food consumption outside the home at the national and international levels; monitoring the prevalence of childhood obesity and its determinants; reducing sugar consumption; and the creation of tools for assessing and monitoring the quality of school meal menus.
The first documentary exhibition created from scratch by FCNAUP is part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first undergraduate nutrition program in Portugal (established in May 1976).
