Jardim das Chegadas: Site-Off-Site explores how materials and images move between formats, scales and contexts. Recovered materials and found images appear mounted within the larger spatial arrangement for the installation at INSTITUTO with one iteration at Galeria de Arquitectura. The work explores the circularity of materials and the obsolescence of a delicate technique that is increasingly falling out of use. Recovered frames, neon tubes and other materials, prints made from found imagery related to maps and aerial views of sites damaged by war or ecological damage, appear as crossed sequences that extend their meaning beyond the original source, allowing materials and images to unfold across the architectural space and create moments of disorientation and immersion. We live by protocols of illusion. To look again is a form of resistance.
