Fátọba brings together artists, activists and community organisers from Berlin, London and New York to explore Black joy as a practice of care, creativity and freedom. Through intimate conversations and archival footage, the film challenges narratives centred on violence, tracing a history of resistance in which celebration, community and imagination affirm Black existence as an everyday act of liberation.

After the screening of Black Joy, we come together for a quiz that takes the film as its starting point and explores references from literature, music and cinema around the idea of Black Joy. Through questions, conversation and sharing, an invitation to collectively celebrate the stories, cultures and imaginaries of the Black diaspora.
