"24 Hour Party People" (2002) chronicles the evolution of the Manchester music scene from the late 1970s through the 1990s. The story follows Tony Wilson, a television presenter turned entrepreneur and founder of the independent label Factory Records, which launched bands such as Joy Division, New Order, and Happy Mondays. Amidst concerts, drugs, parties, and conflicts, the film depicts the transformation of Manchester's underground scene and the rise of the legendary club The Haçienda. More than a traditional biopic, the film presents this era in an irreverent and chaotic style, exploring the interplay of music, culture, excess, and the pursuit of artistic freedom.
