I did not receive formal academic training in the visual arts.
My artistic journey grew out of personal experience, observation, and the need to find a visual language of my own.
In *Surface of Depth*, I explore the relationship between the exterior and the interior, where the surface ceases to be merely appearance and instead reveals memory, presence, and emotion.
Through texture, gesture, color, and emptiness, I seek to create works that invite the viewer to look beyond the visible.
The absence of an academic background has allowed me to maintain an intuitive, unconstrained approach, in which the creative process is guided by experience rather than pre-established rules.
Each piece is an invitation to contemplation and the discovery of various layers of meaning, prompting reflection on how we perceive what, at first glance, appears to be nothing more than a surface. — Alex Beard
