Chinese dance is an ancient art form that reflects the history, cultural diversity, and richness of China’s traditions. Over the centuries, it has developed into multiple styles, influenced by different regions, ethnic groups, festivals, and rituals, combining expressive movement, musicality, symbolism, and elegance.
After three incredible Chinese dance workshops last year, Ponte da China – Mandarin School of Porto enthusiastically takes the next step in 2026.
This year, we propose a special theme each month, dedicated to the diversity of Chinese dance styles, developed over four classes. Each theme invites participants to discover the foundations, history, and defining characteristics of each style, while learning a complete choreography, rooted in the cultural context from which it originates.
The theme for FEBRUARY is dedicated to the Chinese New Year
This month, we will work on a Chinese folk dance inspired by traditional Chinese New Year celebrations. The choreography is marked by joy, lightness, energy, and elegance—symbols of prosperity, renewal, and good fortune—celebrating Chinese tradition through movement and bodily expression.
No dance experience is required – it is suitable for all dance lovers.
