The closing concert of CONVIMUS, Portugal d’Ouro (Portugal of Gold), celebrates the richness of Portugal’s musical heritage through a programme marking the 120th anniversary of the birth of Fernando Lopes-Graça and Berta Alves de Sousa, two of the most significant figures in 20th-century Portuguese music. Alongside Symphony No. 40, one of the most iconic works in the symphonic repertoire, the programme features Vasco da Gama, the symphonic poem by Berta Alves de Sousa, and the Six Heroic Songs by Fernando Lopes-Graça, a work of remarkable expressive power that brings together the AMASING Symphony Orchestra and seven guest choirs for this performance.
Under the baton of Eliseu Silva, this concert pays tribute to the legacy of two composers whose music continues to hold a prominent place in Portuguese culture, bringing the festival to a close with a celebration of musical creativity, national identity, and collective memory.
