Choro Laboratory – Knowledge Passed On is a monthly workshop promoted by Clube do Choro – Porto and led by musicians Chico Bastos and Saulo Giovaninni, dedicated to the collective practice, listening, and sharing of the language of Brazilian choro.

Inspired by the oral tradition of this musical genre, the laboratory emphasizes learning through listening, observation, and group experimentation, exploring rhythms such as maxixe, polka, waltz, samba-choro, and baião. Throughout the sessions, participants will deepen their understanding of phrasing, ornamentation, accompaniment, improvisation, and traditional repertoire.

Open to instrumentalists with basic experience as well as curious listeners, this workshop offers an intercultural meeting space where choro becomes a starting point for exchanging knowledge, experiences, and musical practices.
