The Teatro Municipal Rivoli is one of the two hubs of the Teatro Municipal do Porto - the other being the Teatro Campo Alegre - presenting a multidisciplinary programme open to a wide range of latitudes and audiences, implementing the strategy defined by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Porto since its reopening in September 2014 under the artistic direction of Tiago Guedes.

In 2023, under the co-artistic direction of Cristina Planas Leitão and Drew Klein, Teatro Municipal do Porto (TMP) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the artistic discourse and challenging the role of art in society, in a permanent dialogue with the city.
