Porta-jazz / Robalo + Hans Koller

Porta-Jazz and Robalo are two associations of musicians from Porto and Lisbon, respectively, who have been collaborating regularly, bringing together an annual line-up of musicians from both sides. They extended the scope of this collaboration by inviting composer and instrumentalist Hans Koller to arrange a set of original compositions for a decatet, which was premiered in December 2023 at the Jazz Festival in Lisbon. Hans Koller is a musician with vast experience in composing and arranging for various ensembles and his music has been performed and presented in partnerships with dozens of names as relevant as Steve Lacy, Bill Frisell, Kenny Wheeler, Bob Brookmeyer, Adam Nussbaum and Evan Parker. One of the most fruitful collaborations he has established is with the historic American saxophonist John O'Gallagher, who currently lives in Portugal and with whom he took to the stage with this line-up in Lisbon. This concert brings together eleven musicians from various generations, proposed by Porta-Jazz and Robalo, to echo once again the sounds proposed by the acclaimed pianist and composer.
