Claiming the right to use public space as a privileged stage for sociability and expression, Porto-based DJ BRUMA presents her set for the first time at the Porto Simultaneous Openings.

In her own words, “a ’90s kid from the outskirts of Porto who grew up surrounded by Hip-Hop and R&B; sampling culture allowed her to discover the worlds of Disco, Soul, Jazz, and House,” contributing to the formation of an underground community of alternative hip-hop and Northern Portuguese rap, which she now showcases with the elegance of the classics and the authenticity that defines her.

A regular presence behind the decks at Pérola Negra and Torto, she has become a solid and consistent figure across the city of Porto, as well as in Lisbon, thanks to the urban sound she naturally delivers, frequently playing at venues such as O 36, Park, and Lux Frágil. She has also performed at major Portuguese festivals such as MIMO and NOS Alive.

Beyond the decks, she is an active force in the national underground hip-hop scene, founder and curator of Clique, and a radio host on Oxigénio, RUM, and RUC with the Pérola Negra Rádio collective.
