The ViViFiCAR project embraces the ideas of "living" and "staying" as the guiding principles for immersive encounters between artists from Douro, Portugal and Norway and local communities based on participatory creative strategies.
In 2022, Alijó, Lamego, Mêda and Torre de Moncorvo hosted Encontros Vivos, a residency programme with three artists in each municipality. 12 artists lived in the homes of local ambassadors and were accompanied by a team of moderators.
12 new works were developed about these territories and communities, celebrating the identity, memory and resilience of the places and their people in different parishes of the partner municipalities. The works were presented in the parishes where the residencies took place, revealing the result of this collaborative and participatory process.
