"Sob as Luas de Álamo" ("Under the Moons of Álamo") is a project by beOMNI Expression, founded by Joana Moreira and Miguel Maduro-Dias, created in homage to the Azorean writer Álamo Oliveira.
The performance is not an illustrated biography, but a poetic journey through Angra do Heroísmo, where the city becomes a body, a memory and a workshop of the Word.
Following a route traced by some of Álamo Oliveira’s poems, the Word, video, soundscapes, stage presence and music intertwine on a journey through his work, paying particular attention to his way of thinking about the art of being a poet and to the places in Angra do Heroísmo that feature in his writing: streets, buildings, memories, symbols and evocative landscapes.
"Sob as Luas de Álamo" does not seek to encapsulate the author’s work in a definitive tribute. Rather, it seeks to listen to it anew. To explore, alongside it, certain places in Angra and certain images of the art of being a poet.
For there are writers who leave behind books; and there are writers who leave an entire city speaking from within their words.
Álamo Oliveira passed away in 2025.
His voice remains.
With the support of: Governo dos Açores, Câmara Municipal da Praia da Vitória, Biblioteca Pública e Arquivo Regional Luís da Silva Ribeiro, Casa dos Açores do Norte, Quinta do Espírito Santo, e Rádio Club de Angra.
