Exposição Superposition - Lara Jacinto/ Cortesia Gorvell

On Friday, November 14, INSTITUTO opens its doors for a double event: the Open Studio of Simphiwe Mlambo, artist-in-residence within the InResidence program, and the Finissage of the exhibition “Superposition: Atomic Scanner” by the collective Gørvell.

At 4:00 PM, Simphiwe Mlambo leads the workshop “Colonial memory is paper thin: A workshop restitching 1934”, in collaboration with Caterina Araya and Pedro Gomes. The public is invited to interact with the continuously transforming carpet-installation. The space becomes one of sharing and listening, hosting moments of conversation, reading, and projection on the genealogy of the 1934 Colonial Exhibition and the multiple forms of presence and resistance.
At 6:30 PM, the artist presents the results of her research in Porto.

At 7:00 PM, Ivana Sehic’s performance begins, followed by a discussion with the collective Gørvell, Diogo Santana (scientist), and Kenier Castillo (theoretical mathematician), exploring perception at the intersection of quantum science, architecture, and contemporary art.

The exhibition Superposition: Atomic Scanner is open from Wednesday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

With the support of InResidence program and Criatório, Ágora – Cultura e Desporto, and Direção-Geral das Artes.
