Sholto Dobie builds delicate blowing systems from reeds, valves, tubes and other simple materials. Along with the voice and other sound sources, we hear these systems in their acoustic dimension and, occasionally, amplified by microphones. With a sensitivity to the vernacular and the ‘site specific’, Dobie’s music mixes outdoor and domestic sound spaces, adjusting the perspective and tuning of sound systems.
