BRIAN BLAKER
Brian Blaker is an American saxophonist based in Portugal. Originally from Los Angeles, he discovered jazz through the music of John Coltrane. Blaker studied at the Stanford Jazz Residency and at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, learning from renowned jazz musicians. He has performed with several bands, including Swift Technique and Vulfpeck, and released two albums with his project Bison’s Big Bang.
Since moving to Portugal in 2018, he has collaborated with the label Jazzego, contributing to albums such as Minus & Mr. Dolly – “Giant Stops” (2023) and Bardino – “Memória da Pedra Mãe” (2024). In April 2025, Blaker released a new EP, “Integral Parts”, blending jazz with electronic elements and modern grooves. Following the release, his quartet was featured in the 2025 editions of Ovar em Jazz—as the supporting band for Tigran Hamasyan—and Somersby OutJazz.
DIAGONAL
Diagonal explores bold sonic structures and unpredictable trajectories, where rhythms and melodies intertwine in intense forms. A radiant experience featuring unique and exhilarating performances. In 2025, they will release their debut album, featuring six original tracks that promise to take listeners on a unique and unpredictable sonic journey.
