ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The Introduction to Sound Ceramics is an immersive experience designed for those who wish to explore the world of sound ceramics inspired by the ancestral cultures of the Americas. Over two days, each participant will build their own aerophone instruments, understand how they work, and follow the entire process of transforming clay into ceramics through firing. More than just learning techniques, the workshop invites participants to experience a way of creating that integrates materiality, sound and place.

Instrument-making

On the first day, the focus will be entirely on producing the pieces.
We will explore different aerophone sound systems (whistles and flutes), examining principles of construction, shaping and acoustic function.

Building the kiln and firing

On the second day, we will collectively build a temporary kiln out of stacked bricks. In this same kiln, we will fire all the pieces produced during the workshop.
At the end of the activity, each participant will take home their pieces, now transformed into ceramics.
