Capitão Fausto are five friends who started playing together as teenagers. Four studio albums, two live albums, a concert film, and ten years of adventures later, they are still together: now as old carcasses.
The band was formed in 2009 by Tomás Wallenstein, Domingos Coimbra, Manuel Palha, Salvador Seabra, and Francisco Ferreira. Capitão Fausto released five studio albums between 2011 and 2024. “Gazela” was their debut album and hit the shelves in 2011. “Pesar O Sol” – their most experimental work – was released in 2014. With “Capitão Fausto Têm Os Dias Contados” in 2016, they were acclaimed by the public and won over the critics. The follow-up is “A Invenção do Dia Claro,” released in 2019, which includes songs such as “Amor, a Nossa Vida” and “Boa Memória” (from the city of São Paulo, where it was recorded).
The new album “Subida Infinita” is released in March 2024 by the label Cuca Monga. It is Capitão Fausto's fifth studio album, which they describe as the result of very intense years, of ends and beginnings, of death and life, of searching and finding. It is also the last album to feature Francisco Ferreira, who left the band in early 2024.
More than a decade after their debut album, the band continues on its journey, constantly reinventing itself, gradually replacing the energetic and impulsive sound we heard in Gazela with increasingly precise and melodic elements, which wait their turn to emerge, enveloped in an assertive and now thoughtful sound.
Capitão Fausto will continue touring to present “Subida Infinita” in concert until the end of 2025.
