The exhibition, curated by Lúcia Almeida Matos, presents drawings and paintings by Jorge Pinheiro produced between 2001 and 2006, a figurative period focused on the absurdity of human suffering, which also represents a stance towards the forms of violence resulting from ongoing armed conflicts. The artist draws on widely disseminated and recognisable images from photography, cinema, and art to compose new, complex, and thought-provoking images.
As part of the parallel programme of the exhibition, the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto presents a series of initiatives including film screenings, open classes and guided tours.
