HUNTER is an interdisciplinary performance that critically examines the misogynistic roles assigned to women in three core ‘body genres’ of cinema: Pornography, Horror, and Melodrama. Together with her hyper-realistic, life-size, doll-like doppelgänger (double), Courtney May Robertson weaves a tapestry of images in which the grotesque, (sexual) perversion, and emotional excess become triumphant symbols of bodily autonomy and empowerment. The duo—one made of flesh and blood, the other of foam and silicone—map the inner torments and ecstasies of an individual at odds with an archaic society that champions purity as a moral standard. Spectators are invited to enter the depths of a private room, where the dichotomy between repulsion and attraction dissolves.

This is the debut of Courtney May Robertson’s original work in Portugal. The city of Porto, however, is not a new stage for this artist who, as a dancer and performer, has worked together with major European troupes.
