Bonecos
Red Cloud Teatro de Marionetas (PT)

Bonecos (Puppets) is a creation that absorbs a multiplicity of cultural influences from an immersion in the world of African tales. It builds on the traditional imagery of these tales and their importance, combining the vast universe of puppets with the techniques that Red Cloud Teatro de Marionetas has been exploring. The process encompasses ‘new’ and ‘old’ technologies, in an evolutionary and circular process among the entire team.

Many years ago, when animals lived together in the same village, many of them would disguise themselves as humans to elude human hunters. There were also humans who would mutate into animals to hide from other predators. Even today, you need to be very observant to know if the fox in front of you is really a fox or rather a person disguised as a fox.

The creative process began in a WIP - Work in Progress at fimp’24, in what looked like a promising work session with the entire team already back then. A year later, here is the result of the work developed by this Aveiro-based collective.
