The Porto Music Conservatory (CMP) presents its traditional Christmas Concert, a very special moment of communion and artistic celebration, in harmony with its community and the objectives of its Educational Project.
This academic year, inspired by the unifying theme “BE CMP: TOGETHER TOWARDS THE FUTURE”, we are invited to evoke the identity of our school, its creativity, and the hope placed in those who make it what it is — a collective affirmation of values, talent, and commitment.
The concert program offers a musical journey through works from different periods and styles, such as Sacred Concert (excerpt) by Duke Ellington, Concerto Grosso No. 8 “Fatto per la notte di natale” by Arcangelo Corelli, Illumination by David Maslanka, and To The Stars! by Nigel Hess, all converging in the celebration of the sublime and of light, so characteristic of this festive season.
On stage, there will be several ensembles from the Porto Music Conservatory, namely the Jazz Orchestra, the Complementary Choir, the String Orchestra, the Wind Orchestra, and the Youth Choirs of the 6th and 7th grades — a living example of the institution’s artistic vitality. The participation of these groups highlights CMP’s diversity and artistic and educational excellence, as well as its commitment to the holistic training of its students, in a privileged moment of encounter, sharing, and engagement with the entire school community.
