Geometry, pattern, and mathematics have always fascinated me, and they serve as the foundation for my artistic practice.
At Cardiff Art College, I created installations using handmade nets and geometric solids.
After visiting Morocco, I decided to pursue a master's degree in Islamic art at The Prince's School of Traditional Art in London. While there, I began to experiment with new designs and geometries after learning how to create patterns with a compass and ruler.
Over the next three years, I assisted in the planning and implementation of a series of workshops for Nigerian artists and craftworkers in Kano and Lagos.
My artistic practice has included a variety of techniques, such as cut-out collage and the use of layered mesh, as well as geometric paintings, some of which can be seen in this exhibition.
The leather wall hangings, created with Esther in "Konjunto", help to bring these elements together, allowing the ideas to work on a larger scale by combining geometry, negative spaces, tactile materials, and colour.
