Transvariations is a music series that goes beyond music itself.
Transvariations blends, juxtaposes, reconsiders, and redefines musical categories across past and present, classical and folk, scholarly and popular, professional and amateur.

Drawing from the "Collection of the Best Fados for Mandolin", published in 1850 by Casa Sueca (Lisbon), a program is crafted in which the Portuguese guitar and the fado voice take center stage alongside a period Collard & Collard square piano housed in the auditorium of the Romantic Museum. Fados from the 19th century to the present day are reimagined, reconstructed, commented upon, played, and sung in a soirée featuring Matilde Monteiro (voice), António Vieira (mandolin), Paulo Ramos (Portuguese guitar), João Carneiro (fado guitar), and Francisco Monteiro (piano).
