In a dynamic, compact format and with the dual role of DJ and MC, O Gringo Sou EU throws down organic beats and his rhymes, flow and performance create the atmosphere where audience and artist become one.
O Gringo Sou EU is the artistic alter ego of Franklin Soares Monteiro, a musician born in Angra dos Reis who has lived in Porto since 2010. Interweaving the pulsating rhythms of baile funk, rap and electronic music, Frankão creates a raw, intense and politicised sound fusion. With sharp lyrics and lo-fi beats, he transforms personal and collective experiences into social criticism, tackling themes such as colonialism, migration, structural racism and the reality of the peripheries. His authorial work includes the EP Música de Baixa Qualidade and the album Sente o Peso, which solidify his sound identity and combat aesthetic. With a strong presence on the Portuguese and international alternative scene, which has solidified his sound identity and combat aesthetic, his concerts are an explosion of energy, where the microphone becomes a weapon and the stage becomes a trench.
