Preencher Vazios (“Filling Voids”) is a project by Porto-based artist Joana de Abreu, who, since 2016, has been filling the empty spaces on the façades of houses and buildings in our cities, especially in Porto. The project aims to draw attention to the small details that surround us in our daily lives and to surprise passersby with something unexpected along their route, placing short messages by Portuguese poets. More than an artistic intervention, the project seeks to highlight the need to preserve Portuguese tile heritage, which has suffered a progressive loss of tiles in recent years.
