Tom Brunt’s Acoustic Space

The partnership between Porta-Jazz and AMR - Genève involves sharing programming at both annual festivals promoted by each of the musicians' associations, as well as two artistic residencies with elements proposed by both parties. A synergy that has been connecting Porto and Geneva and thus promoting the presentation of already established projects or stimulating the creation of new original proposals. Tom Brunt's Acoustic Space is the band chosen to take part in this edition of the Porta-Jazz Festival and will be presenting their work released in 2022 - Ambarchi. This reveals a strong identification with the music of Oren Ambarchi as a starting point for the exploration of guitarist Tom Brunt's original atmospheres, with an influence on contemporary and improvised music as well as European folklore, with acoustic and electronic textures and a distinctive instrumentation for the creation of his own universe.

Luís Ribeiro

"A Invenção da Ficção" is Luís Ribeiro's debut album as a composer and bandleader, released by Carimbo Porta-Jazz in 2023. With extensive experience as a musician in other areas, both in the studio and as a live performer, Luís Ribeiro reveals his side as a composer and part of his universe related to jazz and improvisation. Bringing together well-established and recognized musicians from the Porto community, the result is cohesive and captivating, around the description of the first step, which is followed by so many different moments, interactions and memories. These concepts fused into unique versions of reality, which denies the notion of control and gives everyday life the ability to create music, are part of the guitarist's proposal.
