Spring is coming, so it's time to clean up the beds in Agra's vegetable garden and start planting for the new season. With Filipa's guidance, we will replant the entire garden, learning where and how to plant each seed or seedling, and which foods grow best together. A hands-on experience to get your hands dirty and prepare the garden for spring.
About Agra's garden
At Agra, we have a vegetable garden with five beds of vegetables and aromatic herbs. These beds were built over time during our monthly garden meetings. Throughout the process, we had the tremendous support, guidance, and enthusiasm of Filipa Almeida, from Jardins Al Dente.
The beds are fertilized with compost produced here, made from food scraps from the kitchen and bar, thus creating a direct relationship between cultivation and consumption. When it's time to harvest, the food is shared with the community and some is used in Agra's kitchen to enrich dishes with flavors grown right next door. In addition to being a place for cultivation, the garden has been a place for meeting, learning, and taking a break, where people find time to slow down, be present, and connect with nature in the middle of the city and busy days. The garden sessions are open to anyone interested in coming, with or without experience.
