In this new project, Pedro Viana collaborates with singer Irini Kompogianni on a repertoire of traditional Portuguese and Greek songs, seeking points of connection between two cultures united by Mediterranean harmonies that have traveled between countries over the centuries. The arrangements respect the original rhythms of each song while introducing subtle melodic elements with distinctly modern sounds.
Pedro Viana plays traditional Portuguese steel-stringed guitars and Mediterranean mandolas. Irini Kompogianni accompanies her voice with the adufe on some songs from the Beira repertoire. The combination of these sounds will take the audience on a journey through olive groves, vineyards, seas, and portside taverns.
