This workshop is based on the exhibition Shared Horizons: Journeys and Transformations and harmoniously combines Tanka poetry with the delicacy of fans. Tanka poetry, still unknown today, was characterized by its minimalism. Of Japanese origin, Tanka is a 31-syllable poem written from a very personal point of view and derives from Waka, aristocratic poetry that would normally be offered as a gift.
This workshop, led by Sandra Pereira and Paulo M. Rema, proposes to complete a Tanka poem based on poems by Japanese authors; to write a Tanka about first love in five verses, illustrating it with elements of nature; and to decorate a fan with Tanka poetry.
