Marta Afonso is a communication designer and founded Karaka Atelier in 2015, a creative studio specializing in handmade textile printing. Based in Porto, Karaka develops collections, bespoke projects, and unique textile pieces used in interior decoration, events, and design collections, exploring the concept of exclusivity while integrating sustainable practices.

She studied Design at Escola Secundária Artística de Soares dos Reis, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design from the University of Aveiro, a Master’s degree in Communication Design from ESAD – Escola Superior de Artes e Design (Matosinhos), and a Postgraduate degree in Textile and Fashion Design from IPCA – Instituto Politécnico do Cávado e do Ave.

Marta Afonso collaborates with several spaces located in the Miguel Bombarda Cultural Quarter.
