A moment of sharing, in the form of an open rehearsal, with a presentation of the artistic process developed so far, followed by a conversation about migration and the role of art in creating spaces for encounter. This conversation aims to promote reflection, raise questions and encourage participation and critical thinking among artists, communities and audiences. The session ends with a community meal.
“sobre os que voam” (about those who fly) is an artistic dance creation project that addresses the theme of migration through collaboration between artists and the migrant community of Bonfim, in a joint creative process.
Based on regular artistic work with the community, and using choreographic creation methods and processes, the project aims to democratise access to artistic practices and bring migrant and non-migrant communities closer to artistic creation and enjoyment, contributing to a more just and inclusive social environment.
Through movement, a safe place is built where new starting points are reflected upon and the dissolution of borders is promoted — where algorithms, misinformation and hate speech tend to isolate us in social bubbles. It is in the construction of this place in community that, with empathy, the challenges of immigration are discussed, experiences, memories, ancestry, cultures and dreams are shared, promoting integration and opening spaces to exist in freedom, without constraints.
