A Protestant village in northern Germany. 1913/1914. On the eve of the First World War. A story about children and teenagers who belong to a choir led by the village schoolmaster, and their families: the baron, the estate manager, the vicar, the doctor, the midwife and the peasants. Strange incidents occur and gradually take on the character of a ritual punishment.
