The sculptors Soares dos Reis and Teixeira Lopes are the first links in a chain that extends throughout the 20th century. This line of succession includes the names of Augusto Santo, Fernandes de Sá, António de Azevedo and Diogo de Macedo, among other Gaia artists trained at the Porto School of Fine Arts.
