In this new exhibition by the artist duo Sama & Luísa Sequeira, founders of Oficina Imperfeita, the title itself is already a provocation. *"Inventory of the End of the World"* is an allegory for the world as we once knew it, as, according to the artists themselves, under the weight of facts and recent historical events, we have reached a point of irreversible rupture.
This occupation of the FFAC Gallery (@_portoaoporto) also features several previously unseen works by the duo, including paintings, graffiti, ready-mades, and site-specific pieces. Among the themes explored are references to Cinema, Politics, and the dystopias of speculative science fiction—so dear to both artists—which gradually transmute into everyday reality, such as the rise of Police States and the implementation of Global Surveillance towards which we are headed. There are also references to Pop Culture, but not in a nostalgic way—rather, through a more critical and deconstructive lens.
The space, active for two and a half years, has been hosting exhibitions and residencies between Porto and Rio de Janeiro. The invited artists have participated in some previous programs in both cities.
