In Devenire: Esboço e Esboceto by A. R. Costa emerges from the practice of sketching in the nocturnal landscape as a physical and perceptual experience. The artist displaced the en plein air gesture into the forest, under adverse conditions, where the unfinished gained strength as a political stance. In the studio, the sketch transformed into memory, sculpture, video, performance, and shared experience—opening space for alterity and cooperation. Sketch and esboceto appear as forms—fundamental triggers for collective self-expression, proposing a creative experience in continuous reactivation. More than representation, or individual experience and outcomes, the project asserts itself as a practice built through resistance, where community becomes a critical site of reinvention and vital gesture.
