City of Porto MUPIs – Artworks in Public Space
Curated by Serpente – Contemporary Art Gallery
Isabel Cabral and Rodrigo Cabral
R. GRITTO is a visual artist based in Porto with an interdisciplinary background and practice. His work intersects painting, sculpture, video, cinema, and interventions in public space, articulating artistic creation with scientific research on society, culture, and urban contexts.
Serpente – Contemporary Art Gallery, founded on Rua Miguel Bombarda in 1998, is directed by Isabel Cabral (Porto, 1949) and Rodrigo Cabral (Porto, 1942), visual artists and curators. Both graduated in Painting from the School of Fine Arts and have developed a collaborative artistic practice since 1987, expressed through installation, sculpture, performance, visual poetry, painting, mail art, and public art.
Isabel Cabral taught at the Soares dos Reis Secondary School of Arts between 1982 and 2010. Rodrigo Cabral was a professor of Painting at the Porto Artistic School (1983–1989) and at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (1989–2004), where he served as President of the Pedagogical Council (1999–2001) and President of the Executive Council (2001–2004).
The poster is displayed on the digital MUPI network of Porto City Council, within the Simultaneous Openings Gallery, from 11 to 22 March 2026 — presenting artworks in public space since 2017.
This is the 61st poster collaboratively designed with the cultural agents and artists exhibiting in the Porto Simultaneous Openings.
Design, graphics, communication, and concept by Ana Alves da Silva (Braga, 1983), a communication designer trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP, 2006, pre-Bologna), with a specialization in Contexts, Practices and Cultural Policies — Master’s degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP, 2024, distinction, grade 19/20). The project has received multiple international awards.
The exhibition opens at Serpente – Contemporary Art Gallery on 21 March at 4:00 pm, as part of the Bombarda Simultaneous Openings event.
