Limite Zero · 22 anos de Formas Animadas
Limite Zero (PT)
(Exhibition)
Limite Zero celebrates 22 years of artistic creation with an immersive and sensory exhibition dedicated to its journey in puppet theatre.
Founded in Porto, the company has been exploring the limits between the body, matter and the imaginary for over two decades, establishing itself as a benchmark in the national panorama of animated forms theatre. Throughout its existence, Limite Zero · Associação Cultural sees itself as a cultural organisation, focused on implementing initiatives in various artistic fields. The company's activities include the production of theatre and animated form shows, video production and educational activities.
Since 2003, Limite Zero has created and produced twenty-six animated theatre shows, working to foster, research, enhance and promote theatrical culture in its manifestation as theatre for actors, objects and animated forms, an area it has been researching and developing and which is in the DNA of the company's artistic path.
The exhibition offers a chronological and thematic journey through Limite Zero's most emblematic works, revealing the creative process behind the puppets, the scenography, the costumes and the scenic mechanisms that bring their stories to life. Aimed at all ages, this exhibition is not just a retrospective, but an invitation to the imagination and fascination of animated theatre.
Animated theatre, where puppets, objects, shadows or unusual materials come to life on stage, is one of the most universal and poetic languages in the performing arts. Its strength lies in its ability to communicate without age, cultural or linguistic barriers, involving both children and adults in a universe where imagination is the protagonist.
For younger audiences, puppet theatre is often their first contact with the world of live performance. It stimulates creativity, empathy and concentration, and is a powerful educational tool. But far from being limited to children, this art form also captivates adults - for its refined aesthetics, symbolic depth and the possibility of tackling complex themes through visual and emotional metaphors. In its multiple expressions, animated theatre dialogues with collective memory, oral tradition and technological innovation. It is fertile territory for experimentation, crossing visual arts, music, literature and performance. In family, school or community contexts, it promotes the meeting of generations, opening up space for dialogue and the sharing of experiences on a sensitive and symbolic level.
Its magic lies precisely there: giving soul to inert matter.
