The buildings we design today will face a more extreme climate and increasingly demanding performance requirements. How do we respond, in both new construction and renovation?

The Portuguese Association of Architects, Northern Regional Section (Ordem dos Arquitetos, Secção Regional Norte), hosts two lectures at the invitation of the Passivhaus Portugal Association, with two internationally renowned names in sustainable architecture:

Lloyd Alter, Professor of Sustainable Design at Toronto Metropolitan University and author of The Story of Upfront Carbon, presents “Passive Survivability”: how to prepare the buildings and cities we live in to cope with the rise in extreme weather events.
Michael Ingui, president of Ingui Architecture in New York and one of the pioneers of the Passive House movement in the United States, presents “From niche to necessary”: his experience in renovating protected buildings and bringing them up to high performance levels.

The lectures take place as part of the parallel programme of the 14th Passivhaus Portugal Conference.
