An Invisible Force
This project is an exploration of sound as a powerful and invisible force. Through a combination of electronic, electroacoustic instruments and the wind gong.
The wind gong, a suspended percussive object, plays a crucial role in creating sound frequencies and layers. This type of gong produces an intense and complex sound wave, with deep and long-lasting harmonic tones. These sound vibrations have an immediate effect on physiological activity, decreasing respiratory rate and increasing the release of chemicals in the brain, such as melatonin, endorphins and dopamine, which are linked to a feeling of expansion and mental clarity. Gongs produce tones that enhance the holistic balance of our being, influencing it on several levels: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. The exploration of continuous, dense sounds and fragmented rhythms contributes to the physical immersion that accompanies the search for stability in the exchanges between the individual and their surroundings, while recognizing its variability according to the surrounding energetic sense. Electroacoustic instruments, played with a violin bow and other exploratory objects, allow for the creation of harmonically enriched soundscapes that interact with the gong’s resonances, weaving a complex and immersive sonic tapestry. Electronic instruments employ techniques including sampling, additive synthesis, and resonance manipulation, providing a deeper exploration of sonic possibilities. This process amplifies the project’s auditory spectrum, allowing for dynamic interaction between different sound layers and intensifying sonic manifestations.
Miguel Pipa
Born in 1980, he is a visual artist, musician, and poet.
He has always demonstrated a permanent restlessness towards the outside world that surrounds him and a constant curiosity about what lies behind things.
In him, nothing is acquired. Everything that comes into his hands is questioned, disassembled, and reprocessed.
This is how he began experimenting in the area of electronic music.
He continuously investigates new sonic possibilities that classical instruments can offer when manipulated in alternative ways, or he builds new instruments from the most varied everyday objects. Over the last decade, following the principles of ecotropism, he has been creating in his drawings a world of interconnected mutant microorganisms.
