The Poetry Collective returns to the Casa Comum (Rectory of the U.Porto), on the third Tuesday of May (21st), to celebrate the poetry of Maria Teresa Horta: it will do so on the day immediately after the celebration of her 87th birthday; in the same month that 50 years were celebrated since the end of the heinous legal process that involved the “New Portuguese Letters”.
In the words of Maria Teresa Horta, feminism, eroticism, but above all, nonconformity, transgression and the courage of a greater woman who never resigned herself to the conventions and impositions of her time will be celebrated.
Maria Teresa Horta: poet, novelist, activist: her words are permeated by a shameless passion… for the body, for freedom, for the dignity that she knew gagged and restricted by the force – and the force – of men hostages from a very ancient time.
