People of various backgrounds and ages draw an accurate horse on an A4 sheet, with a brushpen. On the spot, out of memory.

The horse was chosen due to its omnipresence throughout art history. It is depicted in the caves of Lascaux, features in Da Vinci’s anatomical studies, and is one of the most striking figures in Picasso’s Guernica. Its intricate anatomy and elegant stature make it a challenging subject for any artist to draw.

The project consists of asking people we encounter to draw a horse from memory, without any visual reference – whether searching for images or even watching other people draw. At the end, we ask them to include their name, age, occupation and place of origin on the drawing, so that this information can be included in the captions of our Instagram posts.
