Bum Bum Paticumbum Prugurundum is an ode to the carnival of Rio de Janeiro's samba schools. These groups, which emerged from a cultural-religious amalgam in the early decades of the 20th century and were led by the Black population of Rio, invented a new way of telling stories, adorned visually and rhythmically driven by the drumming.
While the onomatopoeia of the title evokes the sound of the parade, the works that make up the exhibition present themes from past and recent carnivals, in order to reaffirm, above all, the artistic and educational character of the samba schools.
