25 Anos de The Glow Pt. 2
Jimi Sharp

In partnership with P.W. Elverum & Sun, Music on Music is excited to present a listening session celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Microphones’ third studio album, “The Glow Pt. 2”, followed by a live video interview with Phil Elverum, who will join in to revisit and discuss the interwoven world of memories, images and themes behind one of indie music’s most revered albums. The free-entry event will be held on September 16th 2026 (9:00pm), at Radioclube Agramonte/Espaço Agra.

Based in Anacortes, Washington, Phil Elverum is the artist, driving force and person behind projects like The Microphones and Mount Eerie. His output also extends beyond music to include running a record label, doing photography, painting and self-publishing books. His relentless devotion to creating art for over three decades has generated a great number of landmark releases whose influence and emotional impact continue to inspire and connect with multiple generations of listeners and artists alike.

Released on September 11th 2001, “The Glow Pt. 2” is widely considered a masterpiece both within Elverum’s extensive catalog and the broader history of lo-fi music. Handling the production himself and mostly recording on analog tape at Olympia, Washington’s Dub Narcotic Studios, the near-mythical world of “The Glow Pt. 2” is brimming with life through both its sudden bursts of noise and hushed acoustic lullabies, beautifully woven together by Elverum’s signature high-register voice and poignant storytelling. Taking inspiration in everything from folk, rock and Twin Peaks to drone, avant-garde and atmospheric black metal, Elverum makes the most of his early approach to experimentation to converge a series of sprawling reflections on the strangeness of living, nature, heartbreak, and the mysterious forces of the universe. 25 years after its release, it remains a brilliant document and gateway into Phil Elverum’s young, but instantly distinctive imagination, as well as the emotions, events, places and communities that shaped him.
