When we get to May, the month with the most summer days that feel like being outside, it's as if the city is opening its arms and calling out to us: there are gardens that are filled with music and parties; there are places that suddenly become unusual stages in the fresh air, and there are also parks and mountains that become open-air gyms.
In this edition, Agenda Porto ventured to the rocks of Senhora do Salto to take part in a climbing activity with Porto Climbing, a sport that is expanding in the city not only outdoors, but also, and above all, indoors. That's why we went to see The North Wall and São Rock Climbing gyms where bouldering is practiced, a form of climbing that you could say is in fashion because it's a way of exercising in an informal and fun way. Find out why.
In Código Postal 4000 e tal, we went to the new address of the Porto gallery RAMPA, which has moved from Pátio do Bolhão to Campanhã, and where we can see the exhibition Palestine Here and There.
In the section Quem Conta o Porto acrescenta um ponto, we talked to Isabel Barros about the reopening and renovation of the Museu das Marionetas do Porto. Choreographer, performer, programmer and trainer, Isabel told us about her passion for Porto and the artistic projects she has developed with various communities in the city.
Conjugar o Porto's guest is Jorge Antunes, head of the Xavalo Fest festival, now in its 6th edition. With no roadies, no production assistants, no booking agencies, the festival keeps the founding spirit alive: only young bands, with few or no concerts in their portfolio. In less than two years, this small festival has become “a laboratory for bands”.
Also noteworthy is the return of the Porto band MESA, who will be performing at Casa da Música; the Children's Festival, organized by Ágora - Cultura e Desporto, which returns to the Palácio do Cristal Gardens from May 30 to June 1; FITEI - International Festival of Iberian Expression Theatre, which is back from May 14 to 25; and the new edition of FAUPFest, a cultural event that has been held in the gardens of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto since 2015.
