In recent years, gastronomy has established itself as a form of art, where the act of eating becomes an ephemeral work that combines flavor, aesthetics, and also a performative (ritual), contextual, and social dimension. It distinguishes itself from other arts by including an intimate and unrepeatable element: the experience of ingestion and the taste felt within one’s own body. It is within this context that the project Comer com os Olhos emerges. During three artistic residencies in the summer of 2025, we witnessed encounters between visual artists and gastronomes, and the birth of a new creative language. This language transformed “scarcity,” the central theme of this first edition, into unexpected abundance. The lack of resources became a profusion of creativity, and the absence of established formulas allowed for the invention of new ways of making, thinking, and sharing. As Ferran Adrià once said, “cooking is an act of love, an act of giving,” and it was this generosity that guided all the experiences, proving that both art and gastronomy are only complete through the participation of others. CÓRTEX FRONTAL and PLATO PORTO invite you to the final event of the project COMER COM OS OLHOS. ÚLTIMA CEIA will take place on Saturday, November 15, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
