An archive is not quite so barren. We wake up at dawn to set ourselves in motion, drawing on the memory of the very first cell. We discover that what has vanished from the old body still echoes in the new one. Ruin is a trail. In an archive of gestures, only movement can speak both for what has been lost and for what has been preserved as a fossil. We embodied this archive but were taken aback by its forms. We tried to repeat its movements, but in attempting to translate these fossilised gestures, we created something new by accident. The objects taught us how to create sculptures, to freeze movement. We destroyed them. — Sancha Meca Castro
