Something Soft is a reflection on mourning through movement - thinking and feeling with the body.
It is inspired by the book Flight Ways by Thom van Dooren, which follows five bird species living on the edge of extinction and explores what it means to live and die together in this shared world.
In this solo, the focus is particularly on ravens, whose social behaviours include collective responses to death. Drawing on Van Dooren’s writing, the piece asks how we might learn to grieve together with the more than human world. Moreover, it’s the permission to look at a creatures life and, through it, finding the space to reflect on our own.
Britu Tränkler works with a focus on body and object as a freelance theater and dance maker in Germany and Portugal. Britu studied figure theater at the HMdK Stuttgart and contemporary dance at Performact.
