Solo Blues is an individual dance practice rooted in the African American musical and cultural traditions of the Blues. Through movement, it explores the relationship with music, rhythm, groove, improvisation and individual expression.
Led by Edmilson Botelho, these regular beginners' classes offer an introduction to the foundations and vocabulary of Blues dances, exploring different rhythms, movement qualities and ways of interpreting the music through the body.
Beyond learning steps or sequences, the classes focus on developing listening, musicality and personal expression, while also creating space to discover the historical roots and cultural context of these dances.
No previous dance experience is required.
